Established in 1949, the Department of Politics & Public Administration is one of the oldest Departments of the University. We celebrated our Golden Jubilee in 1999–2000. The Peer Review Committee established by the University in 1997, rated us as the best Social Science Department on the campus. The UGC has recognized us as a Department of Special Assistance since 1991. Currently the Department is availing the third phase of this Programme (2002–2007). The UGC has also given a substantial grant to our Department under its Assistance for Strengthening of the Infrastructure of the Humanities and Social Sciences Programme (2004 –2007).
